First Admission Test of Central University Today

Dhaka Central University (DCU), formed by integrating the seven government colleges of the capital, will hold its first-ever admission test today.

This Friday (August 22) marks the beginning of the admission process, where approximately 11,500 students will get the opportunity to enroll in four-year bachelor's degree courses.

According to university sources, the total number of seats for the 2024-25 academic year is 11,150. The admission test will be conducted in three separate units: Arts and Social Sciences, Science, and Business Studies. Previous applications submitted to the seven colleges under Dhaka University will be automatically accepted by DCU.

Examination Schedule

  • Arts and Social Sciences Unit: August 22, 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM
  • Science Unit: August 23, 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
  • Business Studies Unit: August 23, 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Students must bring their admit card and a photocopy of their national ID card to the test centers. The admit card can be downloaded from the university's website: https://collegeadmission.eis.du.ac.bd

Test Structure and Pass Marks
The test will be a multiple-choice questions (MCQ) format with a total of 100 marks.

  • The Arts and Social Sciences Unit will cover Bangla, English, and General Knowledge.
  • The Science Unit will include Physics, Chemistry, and other related subjects.
  • The Business Studies Unit will also have a 100-mark MCQ test.

The passing score is 40, but candidates must secure at least 10 marks in either Bangla or English.

Merit List and Admission Process
A merit list will be prepared based on a total of 120 marks, combining the admission test score with the SSC and HSC results. Subject allocation will be announced on October 20, and the admission process will conclude on October 25. Classes are set to begin on October 30.

Special Provisions
Dhaka College will admit only male students, while Eden Mohila College and Begum Badrunnessa Government Girls' College will admit only female students. The other four colleges will be co-educational. Students from special quotas for children of freedom fighters, ethnic minorities, persons with disabilities, Harijan-Dalit communities, athletes, and Hijra communities must also achieve the minimum passing score.

The interim administrator of the university and Principal of Dhaka College, KM Elias, said that DCU is starting its journey with this admission test. He added that students will experience a disciplined and transparent process from the very first day.
