Legal Notice Against Tasnim Zara, Shabnam Faria Reacts

A legal notice has been issued against Dr Tasnim Zara, Senior Joint Member Secretary of the National Citizen Party (NCP), accusing her of spreading obscenity. The move has sparked widespread debate on social media, with both supporters and critics voicing their opinions. Actress Shabnam Faria has now publicly condemned the notice, expressing her frustration and disappointment.

On Friday (April 25), Shabnam Faria posted on her verified Facebook page, questioning the timing and intention behind the legal action. She wrote,
"While the government is finally considering recognizing marital rape as a crime, you are sending a legal notice to a woman who is simply trying to raise awareness? She gave up international opportunities to return home and work for a smarter, more conscious, and healthier generation — and this is how we treat her?"

Faria further lamented the growing "brain drain" in the country, adding, "Most of our talented individuals have already left. Gradually, our nation is becoming barren of intellect. Those few who return to drive positive change — don't silence them. Don't turn them into objects of mockery."

It's worth noting that Barrister Mohammad Humayun Kabir Pallab sent the legal notice seeking disciplinary action against Dr Jahangir Kabir and Dr Tasnim Zara, alleging their involvement in circulating obscene videos. Pallab had previously contested the 2024–25 Supreme Court Bar Association elections from the ruling Awami League-backed White Panel.
