Singer Mainul Ahsan Nobel has been arrested on charges of rape and unlawful confinement, according to Mahmudur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Demra Police Station. Police say Nobel held a woman captive in a house for seven months, during which he allegedly raped and abused her. The victim was rescued after a call to the national emergency number '999'. Nobel was subsequently taken into custody.

Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (Media), Muhammad Talebur Rahman, confirmed the arrest and stated that Nobel faces multiple criminal cases, including rape, which led to his detention by Demra Police.

Following Nobel’s arrest, his ex-wife Salsabil addressed the situation in a Facebook post, stating that she is currently abroad and has not filed any legal case against him. She expressed scepticism about the allegations, saying, "I haven't met Nobel in a long time, though we talk on the phone. The claim that he kept someone captive for seven months and raped her seems unlikely to me because Nobel is addicted to drugs. How could he possibly keep someone confined for so long?"

According to Officer-in-Charge Mahmudur Rahman, last November Nobel allegedly brought a student from Eden College to a house and kept her there for seven months without marrying her, during which he raped her repeatedly. These acts were reportedly recorded on his phone. Recently, a video showing the victim being physically assaulted went viral on social media.

The police received a distress call from the victim through '999' and managed to rescue her. A formal rape complaint was filed thereafter. Nobel had been on the run until police arrested him around 2 am last night at Demra Staff Quarters.

Authorities also revealed that Nobel had planned to flee the country and had rented a microbus for this purpose, but was apprehended before he could escape.
