Jahangirnagar University (JU) is gearing up to celebrate the Bengali New Year with the "Jahangirnagar Film Festival 26," a three-day cinematic event scheduled to begin on April 14.
Organized by the cultural group Bangla Theatre, the festival will run through April 16 at the Zahir Raihan Auditorium under the slogan, "We weave the melody of art in visuals, liberate the soul."
JU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan is set to officially inaugurate the festival at 11:00 am on the opening day.
According to a press release signed by festival convener HM Fazle Rabbi, the event aims to provide a platform for both established acclaimed cinema and aspiring filmmakers.
The opening day will feature two high-profile masterclasses: filmmaker Mejbaur Rahman Sumon will lead a session on film direction at 11:30 am, followed by a production workshop at 4 pm conducted by Mohammad Touqir Islam and the Delupi Movie Team.
The second day, April 15, is dedicated to an extensive screening schedule from 10 am to 8 pm. Featured full-length films include Khandaker Sumon’s 'Satao', Mostafizur Noor Imran’s 'Jiner Baccha', and Gias Uddin Selim’s 'Kajolrekha'.
A selection of short films, such as 'Intezar: Prothom Prohor', 'The Hedge', and 'The Eternal Journey', will also be showcased, followed by a prize-giving ceremony at 9 pm.

On the final day, April 16, filmmaker and actor Mostafizur Noor Imran will conduct a masterclass on acting at 4 pm.
The festival will also host an interactive session titled "Our Stories" before concluding with a formal closing ceremony at 8:30 pm.
Several organizations, including Granthashram, Kabyik School of Arts, and the CLC Film Club, are partnering for the event.
