Bollywood actress Shraddha Kapoor is set to return to the silver screen after a long hiatus with her upcoming film, for which she is reportedly charging nearly triple her previous fee. The news has sparked intense discussions across the industry as soon as the details surfaced.
According to various Indian media reports, Shraddha Kapoor has charged a staggering 15 crore rupees for her role in Eetha, a biographical film based on the life of legendary Tamasha artist Vithabai Narayangaonkar.
This project marks Shraddha’s third collaboration with producer Dinesh Vijan, following their massive success with Stree and Stree 2. The producer strongly believes that this biopic will add a new dimension to Shraddha’s career, making her hefty remuneration justifiable.
Reports further highlight that Shraddha received 5 crore rupees for Stree 2, while her co-star Rajkummar Rao was paid 6 crore rupees for the same film. Additionally, she had charged 7 crore rupees for her role in Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar.

Title Controversy Erupts
Meanwhile, Eetha has run into controversy regarding its title even before its release. The film and cultural wing of a political party in Maharashtra has demanded that the movie should be titled Vhitha or Vithabai instead of Eetha. According to them, the current title fails to properly honor the dignity and legacy of the legendary artist Vithabai Narayangaonkar.
Vithabai’s family members have also echoed this sentiment, urging the filmmakers to use her actual name for the movie.
Addressing the issue, co-star Anant V Joshi explained that an alternative title was initially chosen to avoid legal complications. However, he noted that if the family consents, using her real name would significantly enhance the film's credibility and acceptance.
Alongside Shraddha Kapoor, Eetha also features power-packed performances by Randeep Hooda and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on August 28.
