Tensions between India and Pakistan have been escalating following the attack in Pahalgam, with frequent skirmishes along the border. The situation is becoming increasingly volatile, with fears of a potential military conflict growing. In this tense atmosphere, an Indian quadcopter (spy drone) entered Pakistan's airspace.

On Tuesday, April 29, 2025, the Pakistani media outlet Express Tribune reported that the Pakistan Army shot down an Indian quadcopter that had crossed into its airspace near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Bhimber District's Manawar sector in Kashmir.

According to the Pakistani military, the drone was conducting surveillance operations. The Pakistani forces swiftly intercepted it, bringing it down and thwarting its covert intelligence-gathering mission. The military emphasised its readiness to respond immediately to any border aggression.

A quadcopter is a type of drone commonly used in military operations for surveillance, border monitoring, and intelligence gathering.

Earlier, following the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, India took several retaliatory actions against Pakistan, including closing the Attari border, ordering Pakistani nationals to return, cancelling all visas, and suspending the Indus Water Treaty.

In response, Pakistan mirrored India's steps, suspending the Simla Agreement and declaring airspace restrictions, while also halting all trade with India.

Experts and diplomats have noted that although India has blamed Pakistan for the Kashmir attack, it has yet to provide conclusive evidence. With both countries possessing nuclear weapons, the risk of escalating into full-blown military conflict is becoming more concerning and difficult to control.
