In a significant boost to Indian state Rajasthan's industrial sector and green mobility goals, Honda CaINRIndia Limited has announced a major investment of INR 1,200 crore to establish electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing operations at its Tapukara plant.
The announcement followed a high-level meeting between Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Takashi Nakajima, President and CEO of Honda CaINRIndia, at the Chief Minister’s Office.
The initiative centeINRon the production of the ‘Honda 0 Alpha,’ the company’s first electric vehicle model for the Indian market, with manufacturing slated to commence later this year.
Chief Minister Sharma hailed the development as a testament to the success of the "Make in India" initiative and the state's investor-friendly policies.
"As part of the preparations for the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit, during the Japan visit in September 2024, we invited Honda CaINRIndia Limited to manufacture and invest in EV models in Rajasthan. I am extremely delighted to share that the production of Honda's first EV model, Honda 0 Alpha, is set to begin at the Tapukara plant," the Chief Minister stated.
The project is expected to transform the Tapukara facility into a key hub for Honda's domestic and international EV operations.
Beyond the capital investment, the government anticipates that this move will provide a substantial boost to the state’s industrial landscape, drive economic growth through localized manufacturing, and create significant employment opportunities for the youth of Rajasthan.
The state government has pledged its full support for the project, promising to assist with infrastructure development and policy facilitation to ensure a seamless rollout of the EV production line.
This development marks a pivotal shift toward sustainable mobility in Rajasthan's automotive manufacturing ecosystem.
