India has carried out strikes in Pakistan and Pakistani-administered Kashmir, India has said. Pakistan has vowed retribution over what it describes as an 'act of war.
India's military said it struck infrastructure used by militants in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir.
The airstrikes come amid soaring tensions between the two countries, following an attack on tourists in Indian-administered Kashmir.
On April 22, gunmen killed 26 people, most of whom were tourists, near a resort close to the mountain town of Pahalgam.
India said it targeted at least nine sites "where terrorist attacks against India have been planned."
"Our actions have been focused, measured, and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistan military facilities have been targeted," the Indian military added.
