India has launched missile attacks in several locations within Pakistan, including Azad Kashmir. The Indian government claims to have struck a total of nine locations in the country during the midnight raids. The death toll in Pakistan from these attacks has now risen to eight.
An additional 35 people have been reported injured. In the midnight attacks, India also targeted two mosques in Pakistan. This information was reported by Pakistani news outlet Geo News in a report on Wednesday (May 7th).
Major General Ahmed Sharif, the Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of Pakistan's military, stated that eight Pakistani citizens were killed and another 35 were injured in the Indian attacks.
During a press conference early Wednesday morning alongside Information Minister Ataullah Tarar, he mentioned that, according to initial information, two civilians are missing. He further stated that India carried out 24 attacks in six different locations in Pakistan.
Indian forces targeted a mosque in Kotli named Masjid-e-Abbas, resulting in the deaths of two civilians, a 16-year-old girl and an 18-year-old boy. A woman and her daughter were also injured in the Indian strike in Kotli.
The DG ISPR emphasized that Indian forces deliberately targeted civilian areas, including mosques and healthcare facilities.
He reported that another mosque in Muridke was attacked, resulting in one death and one injury. He added that the city was subjected to four attacks.
In Muridke, one citizen was killed and another injured, while two others are missing, according to the DG ISPR. He also mentioned that a residential building was damaged in the attacks.
Furthermore, he stated that a mortar shell landed in Kotli Loharan village in Sialkot, but no casualties or damage were reported. He also noted that one mortar shell landed in Sialkot but did not explode, and another exploded in an unpopulated area.
Additionally, he reported that a local dispensary was damaged in two Indian attacks in Shakargarh.
The Pakistani military spokesperson described these attacks as clear aggression against civilian infrastructure. General Sharif also announced that national and international media members would be taken to the affected areas during the day to witness "India's blatant aggression."
