The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has announced the reassignment of Pranay Verma, the current Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh.
According to a brief statement released on Friday, Verma has been appointed as India’s next Ambassador to Belgium and the European Union (EU).
He is expected to take up his new posting in Brussels shortly, succeeding Ambassador Saurabh Kumar.
A Career Diplomat
Pranay Verma joined the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) in 1994 and has served as a diplomat in at least eight countries throughout his distinguished career.

Verma arrived in Dhaka as India's 18th High Commissioner in September 2022. During his time in Bangladesh, he played a central role in managing the complex bilateral relationship between the two neighboring nations.
While Verma prepares for his transition to Brussels, diplomatic sources indicate that New Delhi has yet to finalize a successor for the High Commissioner post in Dhaka.
