Sunday, 17 May 2026 , 11:01 AM

A major fire broke out inside an air-conditioned coach of the Delhi-bound Rajdhani Express in Rajasthan, India.

According to NDTV, the blaze erupted in the B-1 coach of the moving train at around 5:45 AM today, Sunday, near the Vikramgarh Alot station in Kota. No casualties have been reported so far.

There were 68 passengers on board the affected coach at the time of the incident. All passengers were swiftly evacuated and shifted to other compartments.

Following the evacuation, the burning coach was decoupled from the rest of the train, and its electrical connections were severed.

Video footage from the scene showed thick black smoke billowing from the carriage, with the flames spreading to several nearby trees.

Concerned officials stated that the rescued passengers will be transported to Kota in the remaining coaches. From there, a new coach will be attached to the train to allow them to continue their journey.

The Rajdhani Express (Train No. 12431) had departed from Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala last Friday and was scheduled to arrive at Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamuddin Station at 12:30 PM today.

At the time of the incident, the train had already covered nearly 2,600 kilometers of its journey and was about 450 kilometers away from its destination.
