Following the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi has been given charge of the Ministry of Education.

According to NDTV on Saturday, July 25, the President's Secretariat issued a statement that evening announcing that, upon accepting Pradhan's resignation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi advised assigning the additional portfolio of the Ministry of Education to Pralhad Joshi.

Pralhad Joshi currently serves as the Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. With this new responsibility, he will simultaneously manage two key ministries.

Dharmendra Pradhan resigned on the 35th day of the anti-question-paper-leak protests at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. In his resignation letter, he stated that he made the decision to ensure anti-national forces could not take advantage of the situation.
