Local police have recovered the body of a Bangladeshi student eight days after he went missing in Florida. One suspect has been taken into custody in connection with the incident, while the search continues for a second missing Bangladeshi student, Nahida S. Brishti.

According to a report by local news outlet Tampa Bay 28 News on Friday (April 23), University of South Florida (USF) Police confirmed the death of Jamil Ahmed Limon, 27. Limon was a PhD candidate in Geography, Environmental Science, and Policy at USF.

Police discovered Limon's remains Friday morning beneath the Howard Frankland Bridge. His roommate, 26-year-old Hisham Abugharbieh, has been arrested and remains under interrogation.

Search Continues for Second Student
While one body has been recovered, authorities have yet to find any trace of Nahida S. Brishti, a PhD student in Chemical Engineering at the same university.

"The investigation is ongoing, and we are working tirelessly to locate Nahida," police officials stated.

According to USF Police records:

Jamil Ahmed Limon was last seen at his off-campus residence near the university around 9:00 AM on April 16.

Nahida S. Brishti was last seen at approximately 10:00 AM that same day at the Natural and Environmental Sciences building.

Concerns grew when friends and classmates were unable to contact them, leading a family friend to file a missing persons report on April 17.

Official Confirmation
Golam Mortoza, Press Minister at the Bangladesh Embassy in Washington, confirmed Limon’s death via a statement on social media.

"It is heartbreaking to share this news," Mortoza wrote. "Following the disappearance of two Bangladeshi PhD students at USF, police have recovered Jamil Ahmed's body after questioning a suspect. We have no confirmed information regarding Nahida S. Brishti yet, but the investigation is active."

The university community remains on edge as authorities continue their search for Brishti and work to determine the motive behind the tragedy.
