No Help Needed on Iran Issue; We Will Win Either Way: Trump

U.S. President Donald Trump has asserted that the United States does not require international assistance regarding the ongoing situation with Iran.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, May 12, prior to his departure for China, the President expressed absolute confidence in a successful outcome for the U.S.

"We are going to win one way or the other," Trump stated. "Whether it’s done peacefully or in another manner, we will win."

The President noted that the Iran situation would be a major topic of discussion during his long-awaited meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. However, he made it clear that Washington is not looking for Beijing's help to resolve the matter.

A High-Stakes Summit
The upcoming meeting between the leaders of the world's two largest economies marks their first face-to-face encounter in over six months.

The talks aim to de-escalate tensions surrounding global trade, the conflict in Iran, and various international disputes.

The timing is critical, as China remains the largest buyer of Iranian crude oil.

Despite U.S. sanctions—which have previously targeted Chinese firms for maintaining trade ties with Tehran—Beijing has continued its relationship with the Islamic Republic, making its stance a pivotal factor in the geopolitical landscape.

"Xi is My Friend"
Despite the hardline stance on policy, Trump maintained a cordial tone regarding the Chinese leader, referring to President Xi as his "friend."

While acknowledging China's significant role in the global energy market and its influence over Iran, Trump reiterated that U.S. strategy does not depend on external support.

The President’s comments signal a firm "America First" approach as he heads into one of the most consequential diplomatic summits of the year.
