The 49th Special BCS (Bangladesh Civil Service) Examination, organized by the Public Service Commission (PSC), is being held today, October 9.
The written examination (MCQ type) is scheduled to take place from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM this Friday. The exam centers are exclusively located in Dhaka.
Fierce Competition for Education Cadre Posts
A total of 312,000 job seekers applied to participate in the 49th Special BCS. This specific BCS aims to recruit 683 Education Cadre officials. Based on the number of applicants versus the number of posts, approximately 456 candidates are competing for each available position.
Examination Structure
Unlike general BCS exams, the Special BCS does not include a preliminary test. Candidates proceed directly to the written examination, which is an MCQ-based test worth 200 marks. Candidates who pass the written exam will then proceed to a 100-mark viva voce (oral examination).
The PSC published the circular for the 49th Special BCS on July 21. Online applications began on July 22 and continued until August 22. Applicants who completed their online form were given an additional 72 hours, until 11:59 PM on August 25, to pay the required fees.
The application fee was set at 200 Taka for general candidates and 50 Taka for candidates from minority ethnic groups, those with disabilities, and the third gender. The age limit for applicants was between 21 and 32 years.
Recruitment Details
According to the circular, the 49th Special BCS will fill 653 vacant Lecturer posts in various departments across government general colleges, and 30 Lecturer posts in government Teacher Training Colleges.
The Bengali Department has the highest number of vacancies with 61 posts. Other major openings include Political Science (55 posts), English (50 posts), Economics (40 posts), Philosophy (30 posts), Chemistry (30 posts), and Islamic History and Culture (32 posts), among others.
