A Dhaka court has set April 19 as the new deadline for the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to submit its supplementary probe report in the high-profile murder case of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam issued the order on Thursday after the investigation agency failed to produce the report by today’s scheduled hearing.
The case took a significant turn on January 15, 2026, when the court directed the CID to take over the investigation.
This decision followed a ‘naraji’ (non-satisfaction) petition filed by the complainant, who expressed deep dissatisfaction with the initial charge-sheet submitted by the Detective Branch (DB) of police.
The DB’s previous charge-sheet, submitted on January 6 by Inspector Foysal Ahmed, named 17 individuals as accused. Among those charged are alleged shooter Faisal Karim Masud and his parents, Humayun Kabir and Hashi Begum.
According to the case records, the attack occurred on December 12, 2025.
Sharif Osman Hadi was traveling in a battery-run auto-rickshaw when Faisal Karim Masud and another accomplice, Alamgir Hossain, allegedly opened fire on him before fleeing the scene. Hadi succumbed to his injuries on December 18.
Following the death, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Siddiq Azad ordered on December 20 that the initial charge of "attempted murder" be upgraded to Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
The case was originally filed with the Paltan Model Police Station on December 14 by Inqilab Mancha Member Secretary Abdullah Al Zaber.
