ICT Accepts Charges against Hasina, 10 Others in Ekramul Haque Murder Case

The prosecution of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has formally pressed charges of crimes against humanity against 11 individuals, including deposed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in connection with the extrajudicial killing of Teknaf municipality ward councillor Ekramul Haque.

The legal documents detailing the formal allegations were handed over to the office of the ICT registrar. 

Providing confirmation to reporters, Chief Prosecutor Md Aminul Islam stated that ICT-2 has taken the formal charges into cognizance.

In addition to Sheikh Hasina, several high-profile figures have been implicated in the case, including Obaidul Quader, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Abdur Rahman Bodi and Benazir Ahmed.

The case originates from the death of Ekramul Haque, who served as an elected councillor for Ward 3 in Teknaf municipality and was killed during a staged crossfire incident involving personnel from RAB-7 on May 26, 2018.
