Color blindness or color vision deficiency (CVD) is the decreased ability to see color or differences in color.
This problem usually occurs when a certain eye process does not work properly. Color blindness is a condition of eye sight in which the affected person cannot distinguish between certain colors in normal light.
It becomes difficult for them to recognize blue, green, yellow or red colors separately or to understand the combination of these colors. They struggle to understand what the primary color actually is. Again, even if someone tells them that they are seeing the wrong color, they cannot admit it.
This disease is usually more common in men than in women. This problem can be seen 1 in 10 males.
Color blindness another name is 'Colour Vision Deficiency'. Inside the human eye there is a thin layer called the retina, which carries two types of light-sensitive cells, or photoreceptors. These are rod cells and cone cells. These cells can help us to recognize colors different and through these cells that we can think off the difference between different colors.
Rod cells, on the other hand, help us to detect light and to understand the type of light, but these cells are not involved in color recognition. Color blindness is therefore related to the function of certain cells. There are three types of cells in our eyes. They can detect three primary colors—red, green, and blue.
If any of these three cell are deficient in the retina, color blindness can develop one's eyes. The biggest problem is when any of these three types of cells are missing in a person's retina. The person will see all colors as gray or black and white due to such problems. He/She will see even his/her own blood as black and white.
If you have color blindness it is not possible to work in some professions.
Color blindness occurred both genetic and hereditary reasons. Apart from this there are some other reasons. Such as side effects of using some drugs, serious injuries, cataracts.
Parkinson's disease, vitamin-A deficiency in the body can cause color blindness.
Sometimes there is a risk of color blindness just because of old age.
How we can escape from this?
There is no specific medicine or treatment for color blindness. However, you can carry on your work through certain glasses (such as enchroma glasses) and some mobile-based apps.
