Biman MD and Wife Arrested for Alleged Abuse of Child Domestic Worker

In a high-profile legal action, the Managing Director (MD) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Dr. Md. Safiqur Rahman, and his wife, Bithi, have been arrested by Uttara West Police on charges of brutally abusing an 11-year-old child domestic worker.

The arrests were made late Sunday night (February 1) in the Uttara area. Two other domestic workers from the residence were also taken into custody in connection with the case.

Court Proceedings
Following the arrest, the investigating officer, Sub-Inspector (SI) Romer Mia, presented the suspects before the court on Monday (February 2), seeking to keep them in judicial custody.

According to SI Tahmina Akhtar of the prosecution police, a bail hearing is scheduled to take place at the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Ehsanul Islam.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Uttara West Police Station, Rafiq Ahmed, confirmed the details to the media, describing the treatment of the minor as "horrific."
