BNP's Acting Chairman, Tarique Rahman, has emphasized that while political differences exist, there can be no compromise when it comes to opposing fascism.
Speaking virtually at the Iftar event of the 12-party alliance on Saturday (March 22), he stressed the need for unity against authoritarianism.
Tarique Rahman stated that regardless of political disagreements, all those who stand against fascism share a common commitment to the nation, its people, and democracy. He urged everyone to preserve the unity that once helped remove dictatorship and work together to establish a true democratic system.
He also recalled that BNP, alongside anti-dictatorship parties, had put forward a 31-point proposal to the people, driven by the collective goal of serving the country and its citizens. He asserted that the people of Bangladesh aspire to see their nation stand proudly on the global stage.
Expressing concern over the ongoing political landscape, he noted that reforms and elections are being positioned as conflicting issues. He clarified that reform is an ongoing process and cannot be considered complete at any given point.
Despite differences in opinion, he called for dialogue and collective problem-solving while urging everyone to refrain from any actions that could enable fascism to take hold.
