The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has finalized its nominations for 36 women to fill the reserved seats in the National Parliament.
The announcement was made by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi during a press conference held on Monday.
According to Rizvi, the selections were made following a rigorous process where members of the party's nomination board conducted personal interviews with a wide pool of candidates.
"Members of the nomination board took interviews of the candidates to nominate for the reserved women's seats in parliament. After the interviews, the nomination board selected 36 individuals," he stated.
The finalized list of nominees includes prominent figures and party activists:
Selima Rahman, Shirin Sultana, Rasheda Begum Hira, Rehana Akhter Ranu, Newaz Halima Arly, Mosammat Farida Yasmin, Bilkis Islam, Shakila Farzana, Helen Jerin Khan, Nilufar Chowdhury Moni, Nipun Roy Chowdhury, Jeba Amin Khan, Mahmuda Habiba, Sabira Sultana, Sansila Zebrin, Sanjida Islam Tuli, Sultana Ahmed, Fahmida Haque, Anna Minj, Subarna Sikder, Shamima Ara Begum Swapna, Shammi Akhtar, Ferdousi Ahmed, Bithika Binte Hussain, Suraiya Jerin, Mansura Akhter, Joharat Adib Chowdhury, Momtaz Alam, Fahima Nasrin, Arifa Sultana, Sanjida Yasmin, Shaukat Ara Akhter, Madhabi Marma, Selina Sultana, and Rezeka Sultana.
Party sources revealed that the nomination process saw significant interest, with a total of 1,025 nomination forms sold.
Of these, approximately 900 applications were formally submitted to the board before the final 36 were selected to represent the party in the reserved parliamentary seats.
