BNP has issued letter of symbol paddy sheaf to GM Siraj in the by-election of party Chairperson’s Bogura-6 constituency. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir handed over the letter to GM Siraj on Sunday afternoon at party Chairperson’s Gulshan office.
According to party source, local leader Rezaul Karim Badshah also submitted nomination paper as a candidate in the by-election. As the local leaders recognized the name of GM Siarj, so he got the recognition formally from the center.
In the election of December 30 last year Awami League left the seat to Jatiya Party but in the by-election they decided to contest. Awami League joint general secretary T Zaman Niketa has become the candidate of symbol boat. On the other hand Nurul Islam Omor is the candidate for Jatiya Party. As BNP boycotted the election in 2014 he was elected from there but in the election of December 30 he was defeated by Mirza Fakhrul.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was elected from this constituency in the eleventh national parliament election as BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia could not contest as she is convicted by the court. But Mirza Fakhrul did not take oath as per party decision though the other five members of parliament took the oath. So the by-election is going to be arranged.
Mentionable, Returning Officer will distribute symbols to the candidates in Bogura-6 by-election on Monday and the voting will take place on June 24.
