56,868 Bangladeshi Hajj Pilgrims Return Home Safely, 52 Deaths Reported

A total of 56,868 Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims have successfully returned home from Saudi Arabia as of Sunday, following the completion of this year's holy Hajj, which concluded on May 26.

The ongoing repatriation operation relies on a heavily coordinated network of international flights. "A total of 134 return flights were operated by three designated carriers — 63 by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, 50 by Saudi Airlines and 21 by Flynas Airlines," an official confirmed. 

According to the Hajj office, the arrivals include 4,313 pilgrims who traveled under government management, alongside 52,555 individuals who made their spiritual journey through private travel agencies.

Amid the massive logistical movement, the Hajj bulletin tragically reported that 52 Bangladeshi pilgrims passed away in Saudi Arabia during the season. 

The deceased include 35 males and 17 females. Geographically, 37 deaths occurred in Makkah, 14 in Madinah, and one in Jeddah, while no casualties were recorded in Mina or Muzdalifah.

Medical and digital support systems played a massive role in managing pilgrim welfare on the ground. 

The Hajj bulletin revealed that 415 pilgrims received specialized treatment from various Saudi hospitals for various illnesses, with 16 individuals requiring prolonged hospitalization. 

On a broader scale, local Saudi Arabian medical centers provided essential care to 64,149 individuals, while specialized IT help desks successfully delivered critical services to 27,890 pilgrims navigating Makkah and Madinah.

This year's extensive Hajj operations initially launched with the first outbound departure on April 18 and concluded its initial phase on May 21. 

The return flight phase officially commenced on May 30 and is scheduled to continue running consistently until July 1.
