USA vs IRE: Match delayed by a wet outfield

USA face Ireland in the pivotal match in Group A at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.

But the toss for the game between United States and Ireland has been further delayed due to wet outfield at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill, Florida. 

Umpires are set to inspect the conditions again at 10:45 PM IST. Both USA and Pakistan have their Super-Eight fates relying on the game tonight. If USA win this or this match gets abandoned, the team will make it to the next round and Pakistan will be eliminated. 

However, if USA lose the game, Pakistan will stay alive in the race to Super 8. In such a case, the Babar Azam and Co. will be needing to beat Ireland on June 16 to make it to the next round.

USA know that they can progress to the Super 8 stage with a win over Ireland in Florida, but defeat would open the door to Pakistan, who would then have a chance to leapfrog into the top two when they also face Ireland in Lauderhill on Sunday.

A washout in either game would send USA through along with India from the group.
