Bangladesh Television (BTV) is set to acquire the "all media broadcast rights" for the 2026 FIFA World Cup directly from football's global governing body.

The proposal received clearance from both the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs and the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase on Sunday (June 7).

The policy approval for the direct procurement method (DPM) was granted during the 17th meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs at the Secretariat, following a proposal placed by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Concurrently, the specific purchase proposal was officially approved during the 25th meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase on the same day.

According to meeting briefings, the total expenditure for securing the "All Media Rights" for the FIFA World Cup 2026 will amount to BDT 72,70,57,692 (approximately Tk72.7 crore).

The rights are being purchased directly from the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), bypassing third-party intermediaries.
