Storm Alert for 9 Regions Tonight, Warning Signal Issued

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast strong winds and thunderstorms for nine regions, including Dhaka, late Friday night.

According to a special bulletin for inland river ports, effective until 1:00 am, temporary gusty or squally winds—blowing at speeds of 45 to 60 km/h from the west or northwest—may occur, along with rain or thunderstorms.

The regions under alert are: Jessore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Dhaka, and Chandpur. River ports in these areas have been advised to hoist warning signal number 1.

In a separate forecast valid until 9:00 am on Saturday, widespread rain has been predicted in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions. Some areas may experience heavy rainfall.
