BMD Issues Cautionary Signal No. 1 for River Ports across Multiple Regions

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has issued a special bulletin directing river ports in several regions to hoist cautionary signal number 1, as the country braces for gusty or squally winds.

According to the meteorological office, a temporary east or southeasterly wind, likely to reach speeds of 45-60 kph, is expected to occur in various parts of the country alongside rain or thunder showers.

The warning specifically applies to the regions of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Mymensingh, Faridpur, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet. 

In these areas, the BMD stated, "river ports shall hoist cautionary signal No 1."

This warning for inland river ports is set to remain valid until 1 am on Friday.
