Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, "Bangladesh has taken loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for some relief.Meanwhile, the global lenders have assured to continue such cooperation in the future.
On Saturday, April 30, she made this statement during a courtesy meeting with the IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva at the meeting room of Ritz-Carlton Hotel.
Minister of Foreign Affairs AK Abdul Momen quoted the prime minister's statement and said, "We have taken a loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for some relief. IMF recently approved a loan of USD 4.7 billion for Bangladesh."
The Foreign Minister said, "IMF Managing Director has greatly appreciated the unprecedented progress of Bangladesh in various sectors under the dynamic leadership of prime minister Sheikh Hasina which has stabilized the Bangladesh economy after the Covid-19 pandemic.
In terms of overall development, Bangladesh is a role model in world because the country has managed to keep the economy stable even after the Corona pandemic," Momen said quoting the IMF managing director.
The IMF chief said, "Leadership like Bangladesh Prime Minister is needed to chase all the obstacles.
She said, "Bangladesh has achieved significant progress through extensive development of infrastructure and efficient communication and maintaining law and order."
Bangladesh Prime Minister informed the IMF boss about various government initiatives to ensure the overall development of her country.
She said, "Bangladesh's development did not come in a day or two, it a long-term plan result."
