Train fares have increased as the government has decided to withdraw the rebate facility for passenger trains.
Passengers travelling by train over a distance of more than 100 km will have to buy seats without rebate facilities from Saturday (May 4), .
Meanwhile, Saturday's seat sales began on Wednesday (April 24). Because, Bangladesh Railway sells seats in advance 10 days before the train journey.
Sardar Shahadat Ali, additional general manager of Eastern Railway said that the rebate facility has been withdrawn to reduce the loss of the railway. Otherwise, it is not possible to improve the quality of railway services. A huge amount of revenue is being lost due to rebate facilities. 'Efforts are being made to increase revenue by withdrawing this facility', he added.
