What state minister said about Facebook activation

State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that a meeting will be held with mobile operators on Sunday (July 28) to launch mobile internet.

He said this while speaking as the chief guest at the 'Tree for Peace' program to plant one lakh trees across the country on the occasion of Sajib Wazed Joy's 54th birthday at Dak Bhaban in Agargaon on Saturday (July 27).

Meanwhile, nationwide broadband internet service has been launched but two popular apps Facebook and TikTok are still closed. The question of when these two apps will be available.

Zunaid Ahmed Palak sees the risk in this regard. He said, 'If they (Facebook) come and promise that they will behave responsibly, then we will consider.' At the same time, he also warned of strict action if no satisfactory response is received from the institutions.

Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that Facebook-TikTok does not follow their own policy guidelines. They play different roles in different countries. But in our country, police cars are being vandalized, terrorists are spreading incitement by publishing pictures and videos of policemen who are being killed despite blocking those videos. They are spreading them, even if they are earning from boosting that content, but not taking any action.

The ICT state minister also said that within the next three days, there will be arranged discussions with social media companies including Facebook, and TikTok. If they do not attend and give satisfactory answers, we will take strict action against them.
