Quota reform movement coordinators cancel their protest

The coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement have announced the withdrawal of all programs.

Nahid Islam, one of the coordinators of the movement, made the announcement in a video message after a discussion at the DB office on Sunday night (July 28).

Condemning the violence and untoward incidents, he demanded justice after investigation and called for the reopening of all educational institutions quickly ensuring a fair environment.

Nahid Islam said, 'Many people have been injured and killed unexpectedly during the quota reform movement and the situation that arising out of it. Besides, there have been various violent incidents including arson in state owned institutions. We strongly condemn these incidents. We demand a speedy trial after a fair investigation.'

'Our demand was a logical reform of the quota which the government has already fulfilled. Now I strongly urge the government to open the educational institutions quickly to ensure a fair environment for education.'

The coordinator added, 'We are withdrawing our program from this moment for the overall interest.'
