Two Complaints Filed Against Sheikh Hasina in Tribunal
Two complaints have been lodged with the International Criminal Tribunal's investigation agency, accusing Sheikh Hasina and 70 others of involvement in the killing and burning of six individuals during the Ashulia quota movement in Savar. Advocate Huzzatul Islam Al Fesani submitted the complaints on behalf of the victims' families on Wednesday, September 11.
The charges, filed under the International Criminal Tribunal Act of 1973, include genocide and crimes against humanity. The complaints also call for a full investigation and legal action under the Act.
She was charged with genocide and crimes against humanity under Sections 3(2) and 4(1)/4(2) of the International Criminal Tribunal Act, 1973.
Apart from this, it has been asked to investigate and take legal action against the accused according to Section 'B' of the International Criminal Tribunal Act, 1973.
Key figures named in the case include former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, ex-Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, ex-Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, and former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, among others. The complaints allege that the top seven accused orchestrated the shooting and killing of unarmed students through their subordinates. The bodies of the victims were then piled into a van, covered, and burned in an attempt to conceal the atrocity.
A video, which has recently gone viral on social media, shows the bodies being loaded into a van and later set on fire, sparking outrage. This brings the total number of genocide accusations against Sheikh Hasina to 14, as documented by the tribunal.
