Home Affairs Advisor Instructs Crackdown on Drug Godfathers
Interim Government's Home Affairs Advisor Lt Gen (Retd) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has directed the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) to intensify efforts to catch godfathers involved in drug dealing and bring them to justice. He said that these activities should be strengthened in ongoing joint operations and daily progress reports should be provided.
"Don't just go after the carriers; you must catch the big drug godfathers involved in the illegal drug trade," Lt Gen Chowdhury said during a meeting with senior officials of the DNC at Capital's Segunbagicha today (September 17) morning.
Advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said that drugs bring dire consequences for the family, society, and state by destroying future generations. Therefore, the Narcotics Control Department's officers and employees must work sincerely on drug eradication.
He also said that the officers of the Narcotics Control Department have uniforms. But they have no weapons or tools. So they need to be armed for the sake of conducting successful operations. Necessary action will be taken in this regard.
Among the others, Moshiur Rahman, Senior Secretary of the Security Services Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs, and Khondokar Mustafizur Rahman, Director General of the Narcotics Control Department (Grade 1), were also present in the meeting.
