Meeting in Washington Today to Strengthen Bangladesh-US relations
Four separate meetings will be held in Washington today to strengthen Bangladesh-US relations. Foreign Secretary Md. Jashim Uddin will hold these meetings with senior officials of the United States administration, including John R. Bass, acting undersecretary for political affairs of the United States Department of State, on Thursday (October 10).
It is reported that the first meeting of the morning will be with Assistant Trade Representative Brendan Lynch. Next meeting with Deputy External Affairs Minister Richard Verma. At noon, the Secretary of State will attend a luncheon with senior officials of the US State Department. Donald Lu is supposed to be there. On this day, Jashim Uddin will hold these meetings with senior officials of the US administration including John Bass, the Acting Undersecretary for Political Affairs of the United States.
Apart from this, there is also a meeting with Lindsey Ford, the senior director of South Asia affairs of the country's National Security Council.
A meeting is scheduled for Friday (October 11) with Uzra Zeya, the US Under Secretary for Civilian Security, Democracy and Human Rights, and Shelby Smith-Wilson, acting coordinator of the US State Department's Global Anti-Corruption Bureau.
In the six meetings in Washington, various issues including reforms in various sectors, economy, trade, investment, labor and human rights, good governance, anti-corruption, anti-terrorism, defense, health, climate change, Rohingya crisis are to be discussed.
