Dr. Badiul Alam Majumdar, head of the Election System Reform Commission stated that the commissioners violated their constitutional oaths of impartiality for the last three parliamentary elections.

Dr. Majumdar made this remark while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion on electoral system reform held on Friday (December 13) at the conference room of the Khulna District Commissioner.

He said, "The last three parliamentary elections were controversial. Those who served as election commissioners during that period violated their constitutional oath of impartiality."

Dr. Majumdar also noted, "The electoral system in Bangladesh has collapsed. To restore a fair and democratic process, the Election System Reform Commission has been established to explore how to make the system effective through reform. We will submit a report based on feedback from all stakeholders."

The head of the reform commission emphasized the importance of forming an independent and effective Election Commission. "We need to identify the obstacles to free and fair elections and address them. It is also essential to close loopholes for electoral offenses and rectify systemic inconsistencies in election monitoring processes," he added.
