After a long wait, Bangladesh's largest Jamuna Rail Bridge is set to be inaugurated on March 18th. The state-of-the-art rail bridge over the Jamuna River is now visible.
Standing on 50 pillars and 49 spans, the double-track bridge, built with cutting-edge steel technology, promises a century of durability and heralds Bangladesh's promising progress. Its auspicious beginning is scheduled for March 18th.
This bridge, constructed with innovative Japanese technology, stands apart from all other bridges in the country. It features double tracks and two modern stations on either side. Beneath the bridge deck, there are gas pipelines and power lines, which will play a crucial role in the development of North Bengal.
A joint venture between Japan and Bangladesh, this is the country's longest and most modern rail bridge. Spanning 4.8 kilometers and built at a cost of approximately 168 billion taka, this bridge is not just an engineering marvel; it will open new horizons for communication, trade, and the economy.
However, due to the single-track rail line, the full benefits of the bridge will not be realized immediately.
Acknowledging this, the authorities state that a double-track rail line will be constructed through a new project. This will unlock new potentials for communication, trade, and the economy.
