The Foreign Affairs Adviser of the Interim Government, Touhid Hossain, has criticized Indian media for spreading false information about Bangladesh on a global scale, damaging the country's reputation.
He made these remarks during a workshop and discussion session at the Economic Reporters' Forum (ERF) office in Paltan Tower, Dhaka, on Monday, March 17.
Touhid Hossain urged the public to remain alert regarding the Indian media's portrayal of the country.
He also commented on the country's LDC (Least Developed Country) graduation, saying, "We do not support any delay in the LDC graduation. We've known about this for a while, but businesses haven't taken significant action."
The Foreign Affairs Adviser added, "We will graduate from LDC by mid-2026. There's no chance of postponing this."
In the same meeting, he discussed the government's support for the cotton sector, stating that positive measures would be taken within two months to improve the industry. Cotton will be officially recognized as an agricultural product, and farmers will be provided with access to low-interest loans for cotton cultivation.
Touhid Hossain also addressed the issue faced by expatriates in Oman regarding passport-related problems. He assured that steps have been taken to alleviate their hardships, and passport-related issues will be reduced by half.
The workshop was chaired by ERF President Doulat Akter Mala and led by ERF General Secretary Abul Kashem. Officials from the Cotton Development Board, the National Board of Revenue, and other stakeholders in the cotton sector were present at the event.
