Chinese Commerce Minister to Visit Dhaka with Major Business Delegation

China's Commerce Minister Wang Wentao is set to arrive in Dhaka on May 31, leading a high-profile delegation of 150 business representatives. The visit is anticipated to strengthen trade ties and attract increased Chinese investment in Bangladesh.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the delegation will stay in Dhaka from May 31 to June 2. During the visit, they will participate in a seminar organized by the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), attend a session of the Joint Economic Committee, and tour several of the country's economic zones.

The Chinese delegation is also scheduled to meet with key Bangladeshi advisers, including Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashiruddin, and Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain.

Officials from the Foreign Ministry indicated that the primary focus of the visit will be expanding bilateral trade and investment. The visit is expected to pave the way for deeper economic cooperation between the two nations.

Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen stated that both countries will co-host a trade and investment exchange event during the visit, where hundreds of Chinese and Bangladeshi enterprises will engage in discussions and explore new avenues for collaboration.
