The interim government has officially declared August 5, the day of the Awami League government's downfall through a student-people's uprising, as 'July Mass Uprising Day.'
Furthermore, August 8, the day the interim government led by Nobel laureate Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus was formed following the mass uprising, has been designated 'New Bangladesh Day.'
Additionally, July 16, the day Abu Sayeed was killed by police gunfire in Rangpur during the mass movement, has been declared 'Martyr Abu Sayeed Day.'
A circular from the Cabinet Division regarding these declarations was issued on Wednesday (June 25), according to a government information bulletin. The bulletin states that all relevant ministries, divisions, and agencies have been requested to observe these three days appropriately each year.
The information bulletin also notes that 'July Mass Uprising Day' on August 5 has been categorized as 'A' class, while the other two days have been designated 'B' class.
