All activities of the Awami League, which was ousted from power in the July-August mass uprising, have been declared prohibited.

This information was announced to journalists by Law Advisor Asif Nazrul at a press conference on Saturday night (May 10) after an emergency meeting of the Advisory Council led by Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus.

Following the meeting, the Advisory Council stated in a statement that the amendment to the International Crimes Tribunal Act was approved at today's meeting. According to the amendment, the International Crimes Tribunal will be able to punish any political party, its affiliated organizations, or support groups.

It further stated that at the Advisory Council meeting, a decision was taken to prohibit all activities of the Awami League, including cyberspace under the Anti-Terrorism Act, to protect the security and sovereignty of the country, the safety of the activists of the July movement, and the protection of the plaintiffs and witnesses of the International Crimes Tribunal until the trial of the Bangladesh Awami League and its leaders is completed in the International Crimes Tribunal. Necessary circulars regarding this will be issued on the next working day.

In addition, the meeting also decided to finalize and publish the July Declaration within the next 30 working days.
