Tarique Rahman, acting chairman of the BNP, has called on the interim government not to turn pro-democracy political parties into opponents.
He made this call virtually at a youth rally in front of the BNP's central office in Nayapaltan, Dhaka, on Wednesday afternoon (May 28).
At this time, Tarique Rahman said, the interim government should not take any steps that would destroy the trust and love of the people. Additionally, don't turn pro-democracy political parties into opponents. If anyone among you wishes to remain in state power, then resign from the government and contest elections. If you receive the people's mandate, then you can resume government responsibilities.
He stated that the BNP has multiple development plans to advance the country. To implement any party's agenda, an elected government is necessary. However, there is ongoing procrastination regarding the national election. The future of the national election is trapped in a novel cycle of so-called minor and major reforms.
The youth rally, presided over by Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal President Monaem Munna and moderated by Swechchasebak Dal General Secretary Rajib Ahsan and Chhatra Dal General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir, also saw speeches from BNP Standing Committee members Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Salahuddin Ahmed, and others.
