Tarique Rahman, the Acting Chairman of the BNP (Bangladesh Nationalist Party), has stated that they will spend money on education and on building human resources, adding, "We will not go for any mega projects. Corruption occurs in them."
He made these remarks on Wednesday afternoon (December 10) at a discussion meeting titled "Plan for Building Bangladesh," organized by the BNP at the Krishibid Institute Auditorium in Khamarbari, Dhaka.
Tarique Rahman further said, "Throughout the period of the autocracy, not only political workers but also the human rights of general people were violated. Millions of activists were subjected to torture, murder, and enforced disappearances. The BNP does not want to see a repeat of human rights violations in the country."
He added, "It is our responsibility to ensure the safety of other parties and individuals to present their political ideology."
He also stated that if the BNP comes to power, the foundation of a strong economy will be built by gradually making women across the country self-reliant through a 'Family Card' system. He promised that if the BNP wins the election, one hundred thousand health workers will be recruited, 80 to 85 percent of whom will be women.
He also commented that Bangladesh is reaping the benefits of the initiatives taken by the previous BNP government for education.
