An 11-year-old girl, Arabi Islam Suba, has gone missing from the Mohammadpur area in Dhaka. She had travelled from Barishal with her family for her mother's lung cancer treatment.
Suba disappeared on Monday (February 3) evening from the Krishi Market area. A sixth-grade student at a school in Barishal, her sudden disappearance has left her parents devastated.
According to police reports, CCTV footage captured Suba walking away while holding hands with a young man. Authorities have tracked the boy's mobile number and identified their location in Naogaon.
Investigators revealed that Suba deliberately eloped with her 20-year-old boyfriend, whom she met on Facebook. The young man is from the northern region of the country.
On Tuesday (February 4), Officer-in-Charge (OC) SM Zakaria, speaking on behalf of Suba's family, confirmed that she had a relationship with the boy seen in the footage. Based on the information provided by her family, police are actively using technology to track and rescue her.
Suba's father, Imran Rajib, stated that his daughter had been staying at her paternal aunt's house in Dhaka for the past two months while he focused on his wife's treatment.
He recounted that on Sunday evening, Suba had gone out with her cousin. As they crossed the road, her cousin momentarily moved ahead, and when he turned back, Suba had vanished. The family immediately reported the incident and filed a General Diary (GD) at Adabor Police Station. Law enforcement officials have assured them that efforts are ongoing to locate and bring Suba home safely.
