Train Services Resume on Dhaka-Mymensingh Route After 2-Hour Disruption

A fire broke out in the power car of the Mymensingh-bound Mohua Commuter Train in the Satkhamair area of Sreepur, Gazipur. Fire service teams arrived promptly and managed to extinguish the flames after about 30 minutes. The fire started around 10:30 am, leading to a temporary suspension of train services on the Dhaka-Mymensingh route. However, operations resumed nearly two hours later.

At approximately 12:45 pm, train movement was restored, confirmed Joydebpur Railway Station Master Khairul Islam.

Fire Service Deputy Assistant Director Mohammad Mamun stated that the fire erupted when the Mohua Commuter Train reached Satkhamair in Sreepur Upazila. Upon receiving the alert, two fire service units responded swiftly and brought the situation under control. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

According to preliminary findings, the fire may have been caused by an overheated generator. To ensure safety, the burning carriage was detached from the rest of the train. Once the damaged coach was removed at around 12:45 pm, train services on the Dhaka-Mymensingh route resumed after nearly two hours of disruption.

Joydebpur Railway Station Master Khairul Islam reiterated that the incident occurred in the power car of the Mohua Commuter Train. After the affected carriage was removed, normal train operations were restored.
