Chief of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Banaj Kumar Majumder said that charge sheet of Feni madrasa girl Nusrat Jahan Rafi murder case will be submitted within next one month.
He said these as the chief guest at an anti-repression debate competition organized by Debate for Democracy and ATN Bangla at Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) at Tejgaon in the capital on Saturday.
The PBI Chief said, so far 16 people were arrested after identifying in connection with the killing of Nusrat. Of them statement of nine were recorded. Besides after filing case under Digital Security Act against accused former Officer in Charge of Sonagazi police station, his two mobile phones were seized.
Mentionable, Nusrat’s mother filed a case of sexual harassment on March 27 against principal Siraj-ud-Dowla of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa. It was mentioned in the case information that on March 27 the principal called Nusrat at his office room by office peon Nurul Amin. The principal at that time sexually harassed Nusrat showing temptation of giving Alim examination question paper. After filing the case Siraj-ud-Dowla was arrested.
The followers of Siraj-ud-Dowla then set Nusrat ablaze by pouring kerosene on her as she went to attend the examination at the madrasa. Later Nusrat succumbed to her injuries at the Burn Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
In the program Banaj Kumar Majumder said, law enforcement agency members are alert so that any innocent does not fall victim of harassment in the investigation process of Nusrat murder. To make the investigation process woman friendly a special police officer named Rima Sultana has been given special responsibility.
