The ongoing Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations under the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Chattogram, have been suspended indefinitely following the devastating aftermath of recent regional floods.
This directive was made public through an official notification released by the Chattogram Education Board (CEB) on Thursday evening.
Authorities detailed that the suspension was prompted by a comprehensive assessment of the situation across flood-ravaged localities, keeping in mind the physical safety and psychological well-being of the candidates, alongside the immense logistical hurdles students face when attempting to reach test venues due to fractured road networks.
Acting in alignment with a resolution passed by the Inter-Education Boards Coordination Committee, the board stated in its notice that all upcoming tests are put on hold until further notice.
It further mentioned that a newly adjusted timeline detailing the revised dates for the suspended tests will be made public at a subsequent date.
Providing further context on the disruption, Professor Abdullah Al Mamun Chowdhury, the Chairman of the Chattogram Education Board, explained to a local media that a large number of students were encountering severe structural roadblocks trying to access their designated centers due to the extensive damage inflicted upon local roads by the floodwaters.
He noted that the administrative choice to freeze the examination timeline was executed precisely to alleviate the severe challenges and distress these candidates were experiencing.
