Actress and singer Meher Afroz Shaon and actress Sohana Saba have been taken into custody by the Detective Branch (DB) police on charges of anti-state conspiracy. They are currently being interrogated, though no official decision has been made regarding their arrest.
Additional Police Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan DB, Rezaul Karim Mallik, confirmed the news on Friday (February 7) afternoon. He stated that both Shaon and Saba are undergoing questioning, and a decision on whether they will be formally arrested is yet to be determined. Further updates will be provided in due course.
Shaon's name surfaced in connection with a meeting held at Hotel Park in Kolkata on January 15, where she was allegedly present both physically and virtually. Following this, on Thursday (February 6) at around 7 PM, DB police took her into custody for questioning regarding the alleged anti-state activities.
Meanwhile, actress Sohana Saba, an admin of the "Alo Asbei" group, was also detained on the same day from Dhanmondi under similar allegations of anti-state conspiracy.
