Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court Barrister Raghib Rauf Chowdhury has been appointed as the new Attorney General of Bangladesh.
Sources within the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs confirmed the appointment today, marking a new leadership chapter for the state’s top legal office.
A seasoned legal professional, Barrister Chowdhury brings a robust academic background to the role.
He completed his early education at Kushtia Zilla School and Notre Dame College before pursuing higher studies abroad.
He holds a degree in Political Science from Aligarh Muslim University in India and a Master’s degree from the University of Dhaka.
His legal expertise was further honed in the United Kingdom, where he studied law at two universities and was subsequently called to the Bar by the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn in London.
Beyond his professional credentials, the new Attorney General carries a significant family legacy.
He is the son of Abdur Rauf Chowdhury, a distinguished figure recognized for his contributions as both a Language Movement activist and a courageous Freedom Fighter during the 1971 Liberation War.
