Sabina gets call from Indian outfit Kickstart FC
After receiving an offer from Bengaluru-based Kickstart Football Club to participate in the current edition of the seven-team competition, which began on December 8, 2023, Bangladesh women’s football team captain Sabina Khatun is expected to play in the Indian Women’s League for the second time since 2018.
Kickstart are expecting Sabina to join them before their upcoming match on January 17 against Sethu Football Club, for whom Sabina scored six goals in seven games to help them earn the title in 2018.
Kickstart are expecting Sabina to play the team’s remaining nine matches of the league by March 24, but the Bangladesh national team’s top scorer, with 34 goals in 53 internationals, was uncertain about her participation due to visa issues.
‘I have got an offer from Kickstart. They will wait for me until January 17. I have already applied for the Indian visa. It will only be possible if I get the visa in time,’ Sabina told the media.
The previous edition’s runners-up, Kickstart, are currently in second place in the table with nine points from three games, three points behind league leaders Odisha Football Club, who have played one more game.
