A biting cold wave accompanied by dense fog has intensified across Bangladesh, with the capital city recording its lowest temperature of the season at 12.5°C on Saturday morning.
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) reported that a mild cold wave is currently sweeping through Rajshahi, Pabna, Naogaon, Sirajganj, Nilphamari, Kurigram, Jashore, Chuadanga and Kushtia with conditions expected to persist over the coming days.
According to the BMD’s weather bulletin, the country’s minimum temperature was recorded at a chilling 9.0°C in Rajshahi, Ishwardi and Badalgacchi.
Meanwhile, Teknaf recorded the country's highest temperature at 27.0°C on Friday.
In Dhaka and surrounding regions, moderate to thick fog is expected to linger until noon, significantly reducing visibility and disrupting air navigation, inland river transport and road communication.
Weather experts forecast that the sky will remain temporarily partly cloudy with dry conditions prevailing nationwide.
While night and day temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged over the next 24 hours, the persistent fog during the midnight-to-morning window continues to pose challenges for early morning commuters.
In the capital, the sun is set to rise at 6:42 am tomorrow (Monday) following today’s 5:24 pm sunset.
